JULIAN FICKLER

scroll collection

Julian Fickler’s canvases stand for themselves; as pictorial works, they refer solely to themselves and the history of painting, explicitly eschewing engagement with other discursive contexts. The artist mounts cotton fabrics, woven in varying degrees of tightness, sometimes untreated, sometimes industrially pre-colored, on stretcher frames, soaked, and then processed with pigments, acrylic paints, or watercolors.
